Infrastructure Improvement: IT Embarks On High Availability Project

Art de Guzman and Dexter Chavez ensure that all servers are in good working condition for the benefit of BFS’ clients. As part of the constant need to manage, maintain and improve our IT infrastructure to support core business applications (AMS, CMS, email, etc) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, BFS launched the “High Availability Project”. The project calls for the implementation of VMWARE (virtualization and failover solution) running on four high-performance HP servers, and data to be stored on two high capacity EMC storage devices. IT signed on MicroGenesis to provide servers, Total Information Management for storage, and Integrated Computer Systems for application solutions. Upon project completion, BFS expects to benefit from dynamic resource allocation, scalable server infrastructure, higher computing power, and as fast as five-second recovery in case of hardware failures. This project aims to eradicate downtime and increase efficiency for the BFS team as the company fulfills its commitment to increase system capabilities to better serve its...

BFS and Meralco in discussions to assist BFS-certified buyers

BFS and Meralco in discussions to assist BFS-certified buyers

BFS has taken positive steps towards improving the quality of its property management and after-sales services by holding talks with Meralco for the adoption of standard energy application requirements and procedures for BFS-certified buyers. BFS initiated the discussions with Meralco to assist buyers who have difficulty securing electricity for their newly bought homes. Another value added service being discussed with Meralco is the pre-processing program which will allow BFS to initiate bulk energy applications of properties in its sales inventory that can be activated subsequently by a BFS-certified buyer. This will greatly improve the turn-around time for processing energy applications and minimizing the documentary requirements for buyer-applicants. These combined strategies are novel but appealing for being procedurally efficient, sustainable and client friendly. Meralco’s Legal Services supports the proposal, which could pave the way for a formal cooperation between Meralco and BFS soon. PMU is at the forefront of this project with support from Legal, CCD, and...
